Vancouver Fashion Week

Its been a whole month since we went to fashion week and it is still stuck in my mind. Every show had something to offer their viewers. One thing that stood out for me was the attention to detail. Let's start with the dresses, they either formed to the models' bodies either by adding to their curves or by accentuating their curves. There were also dresses that had a free-flowing spring feel that seemed to give the dress life by adding a certain spunk by flirting with the cut, but the designers didn't stop there.  They gave life to their line with makeup. Leigh Rose darkened the eyes of her models making them seem like they were dressed up for a night out on the town. Rose also worked with slits within her dresses.   While the colors were not flamboyant, they still were infused with life and energy because of the unique cuts. The color of the dresses also seemed to show an easiness as if Rose was trying to show that her line can be worn on a day-to-day bases. The cherry-on-top for this show was definitely the music. The music just helped set the tone and breathe life into the dresses that hit the runway as well as bring the overall ensembles together.

The one show that caught my eye not only exceeded all of my expectations but it also had its own unique theme like no other that we had seen. Danielle Cameron and Makenzie Jones tried to convey an image of Western Canada's great wildlife. These designers went from adding antlers to their dresses to giving the models a certain walk. It started off with a flowered dress with overlapping sequences.  The models really brought the dresses to life with their unique walks and avant garde poses. When walking down the runway the model above pulled the flowers off of her dress and gave them to members of the audience. The execution of the dress was exquisite and the model's interaction with the audience was unlike any other show I have ever seen. Every dress had its own theme. The entire show went from spring to wildlife to almost a love story told by the last too models. The feathered dress stole the show.  It was breathtaking.

The experience of watching this show not only helped the Booked team see what a true runway show would be like in person, but it also showed us how far fashion can go. The boundaries are limitless.
